Reclaiming the lost green of Pera: A museum and civic space that transforms a former carpark into a sculpted cultural landscape, restoring a 'breath of fresh air' to Istanbul’s dense urban fabric.
Located in the historic district of Pera, Istanbul, nicmis is conceived as a sculpture and painting museum that reimagines the relationship between art, city, and public space. The project responds to the site’s layered history: once a green public park, later transformed into a carpark, and now revived by me as a cultural and open civic space. Central to the design is the idea of creating a breath of fresh air within the city’s dense urban fabric and an uninterrupted vista that reconnects the community to both art and landscape.

What does the client want?
Through a careful orchestration of spatial openness, light, and circulation, nicmis reclaims the lost green of Pera, offering a place for reflection, gathering, and cultural continuity—where the past and present coexist in dialogue.
